The replacement hospital featured eight acute care beds, plus one labour, delivery and recovery suite. The redevelopment provided a modern environment for the delivery of public and mental health and addictions programs, and home and community care services. The reconfigured hospital layout benefitted the delivery of local physician and emergency services, which includes designated state-of-the-art program space for the delivery of diagnostic imaging, laboratory and pharmacy services. A Home and Community care house with eight residential care beds for clients with complex needs was also included. The new building required Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, and maximized the use of wood consistent with the Province’s Wood First Act.
