Project Details

The replacement of Nanaimo Correctional Centre will be a purpose-built facility that enhances safety, security, and space to continue successful programs.

The new 200-room facility will support open, medium and secure individuals and maintain the existing capacity while creating new space for women from Vancouver Island (an additional 12-room unit) and modern, purpose-built spaces for health care and other programs.

Site clearing for the new centre begins summer 2021; BC Corrections expects construction will be completed in 2024.
