Abbotsford Law Courts Project

Project Description

The Province of B.C. built a new law court within the City of Abbotsford’s Civic Precinct.

The 14-room law courts included three Supreme Court courtrooms, eight Provincial Court courtrooms and three judicial conference rooms. The facility also incorporated justice programs such as the BC Prosecution Service, Community Corrections, a Justice Access Centre, as well as a parkade to supplement parking requirements for the City of Abbotsford.

The new Abbotsford Law Courts is one of the key court facilities within the Lower Fraser Valley and plays a critical role in the administration of the justice system in this region.

The new law courts facility was designed to maximize environmental sustainability and ultimately achieve LEED® Gold Certification upon completion. Passive design strategies, including building orientation and envelope design have been incorporated in order to establish a highly energy-efficient facility that aligns with the sustainability initiatives of the Province of B.C.
