Fairness Advisor, Iterum Law Corporation

I am an experienced commercial lawyer, having practiced for over 40 years in Vancouver, most recently as a partner in Miller Thomson LLP. I have acted as private arbitrator in numerous commercial disputes, and in 1999 earned the designation ‘Chartered Arbitrator’.

My practice is now restricted to advising public-sector procurement teams on fairness matters, and related services.

I have worked as Fairness Advisor for about 23 years, on construction projects both large and small in diverse sectors such as highways, rapid transit, bridges, wastewater treatment, hospitals, universities/colleges, corrections and courthouse facilities, port facilities, airports, and others – as well as services procurements, and consulting engagements on smaller-scale fairness issues in specific procurement processes. Some projects are measured in billions of dollars in capital cost (Port Mann, Massey Tunnel, Broadway Subway, Surrey-Langley Skytrain), and others have been well under $100 million. My project list reflects numerous delivery models including DB, P3, DBFOM under concession contracts, and others.

My background also includes service on volunteer boards, including Knowledge Network, UBC Alumni Association Advisory Board, Capilano University, the Justice Institute of BC, and Granville Island Trust. I am a Life Bencher of the Law Society of BC.
