New Westminster Secondary School Replacement Project

Project Description

The Westminster Secondary School Replacement Project accommodated 1,900 grade 9 to 12 students. The school provided a state-of-the-art learning environment. It was designed to optimize the use of flexible learning spaces to maximize collaboration and active learning and include technology that enriches the learning process. Multi-purpose spaces and modern shops, as well as contemporary fine and performing arts spaces enhance the environment for the school community. It also meets today’s standards for modern learning, safety and accessibility, and incorporate the latest sustainable energy and waste management systems. The Project  included a facility that is approximately 19,800 m2 (building gross area) including:

  • Learning space;
  • Parking for staff, students and visitors;
  • Field / outdoor athletic space; and
  • Flexibility to allow for future expansion.

The school was constructed using a design-build procurement approach.
